THIS TOUR IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE, SORRY. The Butchart Gardens in Victoria must surely be the loveliest on the continent, certainly one of the finest gardens to be found anywhere. This 50 acre horticultural masterpiece, started in 1904 and now world-renowned, comprises four diverse plans: the Sunken Garden and its contemporary Ross Fountain, the English Rose Garden, the Japanese Garden and the formal Italian Court Garden. These main gardens are interconnected by spacious lawns, ponds, and fine herbacious perennial borders. On summer evenings the bookshop gardens are transformed at dusk asked thousands of lights give artful illumination, creating affair lend all foam and color. On Saturdays in July and August there is a dazzling fireworks display creatively set to music. Our route takes us from downtown Victoria along the Saanich peninsula passing both suburban and rural landscape - by itself a most enjoyable drive.
