Vancouver Island Ferries

An excellent Vancouver Island Ferries service is operated by BC Ferries between mainland BC and Vancouver Island.

If you are coming to Victoria BC on BC Ferries, it is important to know that the Victoria ferry runs between Tsawwassen Terminal (half hour drive South of Vancouver) and Swartz Bay (half hour drive North of Victoria.

At Tsawwassen Terminal be careful to get the right ferry as they also leave there for Nanaimo (Duke Point terminal on Vancouver Island) and various Gulf Islands.

Vancouver has another ferry terminal at Horseshoe Bay (half hour drive North of Vancouver) and you can go to Nanaimo (Departure Bay Terminal) from there but you cannot go to Victoria - unless you take the 2 hour drive from Nanaimo South to Victoria - it's a nice drive and you can stop for a while in Chemainus and Duncan.

Confusing? It can be! But don't worry!  Check out our website:

  Victoria BC Guide

It offers assistance and provides BC Ferry Maps and all the necessary ferry links.  It also describes other ferry routes to Victoria like Washington State Ferries and The Victoria Clipper.
